December 3rd, 2008 at 14:47:08 thats reasonable...but thats not what you said.
December 3rd, 2008 at 15:10:07 I tried to make this point but have ended up antagonizing half of America with my lumbering verbosity.
December 3rd, 2008 at 15:33:06 died while honouring America in a just war (also the bit with Bush in the hospital). I didn't mean to offend anyone but just pointing out that this video uses an anti war song while, in my interpretation, not coming across as anti war itself
December 3rd, 2008 at 15:56:05 I'm not going to kowtow to your sentimental line. I was merely making the very reasonable point that this song - 'all foreign wars I do proclaim live on the blood and the mothers pain I'd rather have my son as he used to be than the King of America and his whole navy'- is not a paean to killed soldiers but an anti-war song. Of course it's tragic when people die but the main issue is that the war itself was wrong and the star spangled banner intro to this video suggests that these soldiers...
December 3rd, 2008 at 16:19:04 Way to back pedal pussy. This was put up as a memorial to soldiers, some of the people looking at it lost friends and family over there. your comment "excuse me if i don't cry my eyes out" and "to a certain extent it comes with the territory" was completly rude. Those soldiers have wives and kids...but you are to stupid to know when to shut up....you have no respect for other people. you are about the lowest type of person I know. I think you are to much of a coward to serve in the army.
December 3rd, 2008 at 16:42:03 Listen jazzy jeff you little wank, which part of my statement was so outlandish? That innocent victims of war are more innocent the soldiers of the country who instigated the war for their own selfish ends? To anyone with half a braincell that is a perfectly 'reasonable' stance. When you sign up for the army you must be prepared to die for your country. Not that it doesn't matter, just that in my opinion it was Bush and co who killed these soldiers and the many forgotten Iraqis. Now fuckoff
December 3rd, 2008 at 17:05:02 MichaelFrances is a total fag!
December 3rd, 2008 at 17:28:01 Michaelfrances you are to stupid too reason with...if you run your mouth like that in the wrong place some one will break your jaw to shut you up! Your attitude that it doesn't matter if they get killed because its their job is bullshit! You are a useless selfish prick!
December 3rd, 2008 at 17:51:00 Good song but excuse me if I don't cry my eyes out at the video footage. Of course it's a shame when soldiers die in battle but to a certain extent that comes with the territory. What about all the innocent Iraqi's killed?
December 3rd, 2008 at 18:13:59 God bless america
December 3rd, 2008 at 18:36:58 Great song, only heard this version of it a week ago, learned the origional in school back in the 60's sounded nothing like this, but there was somthing fimilar about the air! youtube search the theme to "The Last of the Moheekans"
December 3rd, 2008 at 18:59:57 Thats pretty much exactly what i said.....
December 3rd, 2008 at 19:22:56 Actually it's about the Irish fighting Britains war.
December 3rd, 2008 at 19:45:55 no read the seager sessions booklet that comes with the springsteen cd look for the lyrics of mrs mg... it has a little bit about it at the top! im Just saying!
December 3rd, 2008 at 20:08:54 springteen changed it look up the old version its different
December 3rd, 2008 at 20:31:53 hard to beleive this song is 200 years old
December 3rd, 2008 at 20:54:52 I find this a good representation of and similar to our current situation. Compare the words of this song to a song or letter of a son in or was in Iraq. Many people could relate to this song and have strong feelings to it. Don't disregard this video interpretation as a warmongering tribute to greed or anything of that sort.
December 3rd, 2008 at 21:17:51 I've considered supporting that option myself. The only problem is that then good physical fighters get chosen for leadership rather than the intelligent people. Not that our current leader is that intelligent, but still.
December 3rd, 2008 at 21:40:50 Totally right. As an American, and not proud of the way things are: We're waist deep in the Big Sandy, the Big Fool says to push on. Apologies to Pete Seeger, though I think he would agree.
December 3rd, 2008 at 22:03:49 i love this song, it is my favourite from the seeger sessions, but to be honest im not a fan of the vidio purely because i always imagin the song being played to a vid of a fleet of ships that sail using the wind and old fassioned cannons and bording ships with hand to hand combat with sords and things.. and if you wanted a vidio about how devistating modern wars have been i would have used a more modern song about war but thats just my oppinion... great song
December 3rd, 2008 at 22:26:48 oh ok
